Administrative Office Specialist (Business, Management & Administration Career Cluster)

  • Introduction to Information Technology (8207310)
    Grades 9-12

    This course provides an introduction to information technology concepts and careers. The content includes keyboarding, operating systems, software applications, and electronic communications. This course starts with developing keyboarding skills then progresses to word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations. Basic HTML and Web design will also be covered. This course satisfies the practical/performing arts graduation requirement.

  • Administrative Office Technology 1 (8212110)
    Grades 10-11; Introduction to IT (or Computing for College and Careers) required.

    This course is designed to assist with administrative and general office duties in a support capacity.  This course explores and expands the core competencies in the areas of personal and professional development and promotes application of higher level office procedures tasks and communications skills through the use of technology. 

Note: One additional course in this program of study will be added (depending on enrollment) each year until the full four-year program is offered. Other courses in the program are Business Software Applications 1 and Digital Design 1.

A student completing the first three courses of the Administrative Office Specialist program in high school can earn up to 9 college credits at the College of Central Florida. In order to qualify, the high school graduate must have a B average in the Administrative Office Specialist program courses, be a program completer, and present a portfolio of his/her work in this program to CCF (if asked). Additional credits may be awarded for passing the Industry Certification exams (Microsoft Office Specialist in Word, Excel, and/or Access).

In order to receive these credits at CCF, students must do the following:

  • Enroll at CCF as an A.S. Degree seeking student in the area of Business Management, Marketing, & Administration OR Office Administration - Legal or Medical Office OR Office Administration - Office Management or Software. (Note: Ask to see an A.S. Advisor at CCF.)
  • Tell the A.S. Advisor that you are a Career Pathways Student in the area of Administrative Office Specialist and you want your free credits. =

You should check your transcripts to be sure the credits have been added. If not, you should continue to follow-up with your A.S. Advisor until they are added. Note: Once the credits have been added to your transcript they cannot be removed; therefore, if a student changes his/her major or even degree (to A.A. degree), the credits will remain.
