Criminal Justice Operations (Law, Public Safety & Security Career Cluster)

Content includes introduction to the Criminal Justice Operations system, police ethics and constitutional law, patrol procedures, traffic control procedures, defensive tactics and proficiency skills, first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, interpersonal and communication skills, investigation procedures, court systems and trial procedures, correctional systems, forensic science, crime prevention, property control, employability skills, and computer skills. Field and laboratory activities are required.

  • Criminal Justice Operations 1 (8918010)
    Grades 9-10

    This course introduces students to the fields of law enforcement, the court system, and the correctional system.  The content includes career opportunities in these fields, court system, correctional system, interpersonal and communication skills, and employability skills.

  • Criminal Justice Operations 2 (8918020)
    Grades 10-11; Criminal Justice Operations 1 and Teacher recommendation required.

    This course develops competencies in patrol, traffic control, defensive tactics and physical proficiency skills, and first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills.

  • Criminal Justice Operations 3 (8918030)
    Grade 11-12; Criminal Justice Operations 2 and Teacher recommendation required.

    This course develops competencies in crime and accident investigation procedures, forensic science tasks, crime prevention, and property control procedures. Field and laboratory activities are required. This course receives honors weighting for the district GPA calculations. Students completing Criminal Justice Operations 1, 2, and 3 will, at the end of Criminal Justice Operations 3 take the NOCTI skill attainment exam for Criminal Justice Operations.

  • Criminal Justice Operations 4 (8918040)
    Grade 12; Criminal Justice Operations 3 and Teacher recommendation required.
    Seniors may take concurrently with Criminal Justice Operations 3 with teacher approval.

    Students in this course will focus on the following four areas: Police Service Aide, Crime Scene Technician, Public Safety Telecommunications, and Correctional Officer. Field and laboratory activities are required.
