    Health Opportunities through Physical Education provides students with opportunities to develop an individual optimal level of physical fitness, and enhance critical life skills necessary to make sound decisions regarding healthy and effective living. This involves classroom activities as well as physical activities.
  • Individual and Dual Sports I (1502410)
    Grades 9-12; 1/2 credit

    This course enables students to develop knowledge and skills in specified individual and dual sports and to maintain or improve health-related fitness. The content should include, but not be limited to safety practices, rules, terminology, and etiquette, history biomechanical and physiological principles, techniques and strategies, sportsmanship, fitness activities, fitness assessment, consumer issues, benefits of participation.

  • Individual and Dual Sports II (1502420)
    Grades 9-12; 1/2 credit

    This course enables students to continue to develop knowledge and skills in specified individual and dual sports and to maintain or improve health-related fitness. The content should include, but not be limited to safety practices, rules, terminology, and etiquette, history biomechanical and physiological principles, techniques and strategies, sportsmanship, fitness activities, fitness assessment, consumer issues, benefits of participation.

  • Beginning Weight Training (1501340)
    Grades 9-12; 1/2 credit

    The purpose of this course is to enable students to acquire basic knowledge and skills in weight training, improve muscular strength and endurance, and begin to enhance self-image.

  • Intermediate Weight Training (1501350)
    Grades 9-12; 1/2 credit

    The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop intermediate-level knowledge and skills in weight training, further improve muscular strength and endurance, and further enhance self-image.

  • Advanced Weight Training (1501360)
    Grades 9-12; 1/2 credit

    The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop advanced knowledge and skills in weight training, further improve muscular strength and endurance, and further enhance self-image.

PE Waiver: Students who complete at least two years of ROTC may use the ROTC course to meet the 1/2 credit PE requirement.
