Expected Summer Reading for 2012

Advanced Placement English students are expected to complete the following summer readings.

AP Language     Print AP Lang List

Please read the following books over the summer:

• Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell

• Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass by Frederick Douglass

As you read, track the themes that emerge from the text. Consider how these themes are constructed through language choices. You may consider using sticky notes or a note sheet to track what strikes you as a reader (or annotations if you own the book). Make sure to identify at least two themes for each book.

Return to class in August prepared for a reading check quiz, class discussion, essay, and test over each book.
